xunantunich-belize-pyramidA week ago we were able to spend the day at the Maya ruins of Xunantunich. There we saw Howler Monkeys including a baby. The park personnel said they have to move them away from the parking area because they like to poop and pee on the visitors. Maybe they don’t like us in their home :-) The ruins were amazing with plenty of steep steps. Once we reached the summit the views were spectacular. We could see for miles into Belize and Guatemala. On the way up we saw a huge Iguana the size of my thigh! He was sunbathing and we loved meeting the Iguana of Xunantunich. Coming home we detoured to Clarissa Falls and walked over the river on a hanging bridge. You know, we still have some of those in Kentucky. The Belize locals ride their bikes across and even their motorcycles. Then we took a swim in the Mopan River and played on a rope swing. Even this mom of four climbed the tree, grabbed the rope, and took one plunge into the river. The local boys were like monkeys climbing the trees and swinging off the rope. They tried to help our girls get the hang of it, without success. Nevertheless, it was a good day in Belize. Signing Off, Tina

No, but that sounds wonderful. We won’t be back in the states until around October. Looking forward to seeing our family and friends!
