Three Quick Reasons to Visit Palenque
The Maya site of Palenque is beautiful!
- We got lots of healthy exercise climbing up and down the pyramids.
- It was a fun historical field trip about Maya culture for the kids and the adults.
- After our workout, we played in waterfalls inside the park that cooled us off from our adventurous hike.
We had a wonderful day traveling back in time a couple of thousand years!
Family Tips for Visiting Maya Pyramids
- If you bring the kids be sure to pack water! It’s hot and they will need hydration. So will you!
- Buy a baby carrier for your little ones. We hauled Tristan up and down the pyramids in his carrier. Our 11-month-old didn’t miss a thing!
Enjoy our first Maya adventure in photos. Hopefully one day you will be able to visit this beautiful park too! Signing off, Tina

Buy me a cup of coffee
A ridiculous amount of coffee was consumed in the process of creating this project. Add some fuel if you'd like to keep me going ;-) Gracias!
Wow! I would love to visit there! I love the pictures at the water too! My favorite photo being the closeup of Sawyer!
love, amanda
I agree with Amanda, WOW!!! That looks like an awesome place to visit. It looks like the kiddos are having a great time swimming. I also agree again with Amanda, my favorite picture is of Sawyer. He is to stinking cute. He looks like he’s up to trouble :) Love you all
Those are breathtaking Tina! What an amazing look into history. And perfect shots of the kiddos!
Gorgeous! You guys are doing a great job showing your kids Jehovah’s beautiful creation! Would love to do the same one day.
What an AMAZING homeschool experience! I’ve homeschooled my 3 three kids exclusively for 15 years now, but I’ve never had the opportunity to make history come alive like THAT before. That’s really cool. Palenque is an amazing site – though I’ve never been myself, I studied it extensively in college (I majored in anthropology/archaeology). Awesosme! ;)
Wow-those photos are incredible! What an amazing experience for the whole family!
Amazing! Never seen such beautiful pictures. It’s clear you guys are having the time of your life!
Thanks Susie! Can’t wait till the New World. That will truly be the time of our life :-)
That looks like so much fun! wow! The waterfall looks amazing too.
It was awesome! The waterfall was the icing on top of the cake :-)
Wonderful pictures filled with a rich experience. Loved the story and wish I could visit.
Thank you Marc. It was rather amazing! I hope you are able to experience it someday :-)
I am moving to PALENQUE for three months this fall. While I have visited it many times and stayed at lovely hotels this time will have me living on the economy. Any advice about how one goes about looking for a place to stay there while I am living in New Mexico?
Diana you mean “Mexico” right and not “New Mexico”? Just making sure :-) I think if I would Google “short term rentals Palenque”. A site we have used a number of times for home rentals is Vivanuncios. There is also AirBnb and VRBO. I like all of these sites :-) Hope this helps!
I loved seeing the Mayan Pyramids on our honeymoon, and even though it was 15 years ago they still are fresh in my mind. The kids looked like they had a great time.
We all did and yes, I don’t think I will ever forget the experience either! If anyone has the chance to visit an ancient site like Palenque I recommend it!
wow, i’m not thinking Mexico looks pretty like this, so beautiful
I didn’t have a clue either until I we moved here and started exploring ;-) Maybe the world isn’t so small after all :-)
