Journey to The Center of The Earth, the board game, is such a fun game for family game night! We played it with two people and with four people and it is entertaining both ways. Last time we played the game we tried to include our nine-year-old son. He didn’t last long but I think it is only because of his ADHD and his age. Our 14-year-old and our 16-year-old girls both enjoy it. It’s unique, it’s strategic, and I like it!

I tend to chose games based on reviews, (funny as this is my first review), and how they look. Looks may seem silly but I guess I am a visual person and I love colors and design! This game was a personal pick of mine from Amazon as many of my reviews will be :-)

I also could not for the life of me, find a set of downloadable PDF instructions for this game online so I made my own. They are not perfect but they work and will allow you to learn more about “how to play” Journey to The Center of The Earth, the board game. I do not yet know if the game designers will ask me to remove them… but for now, I can share the link with you. Just click HERE :-) Plus don’t be overwhelmed by the instructions! I am learning that all the great games have some serious instructions ;-)

The game takes place over three phases left to right. Namely the cave system, the underground lake, and the erupting volcano. Each phase is played differently.

Dad looks so serious. He must really be concentrating on the game…

Our youngest is only six-years-old. So while we played Journey to The Center of The Earth, the board game, he played Spongebob Uno.

Why only three meeples with four players? Good question! ALL players move ALL the meeples. One color per turn.

Pausing for a funny meme. That is our family game night. We aren’t too serious. It’s all about time together, right?

This little raft only comes into play in the second and third phase of the game. Again, ALL players move the raft on their turn.
