3-reasons-to-have-kids

Don’t worry, I am not a biased mother of four gorgeous kids. Well, maybe I am, but don’t hold that against me. There truly are some great reasons you should have children. Of course on the flip-side there are reasons NOT to have kids too. I will be addressing those reasons in a follow-up post. Stay tuned all you anti-kid people and I will reassure your decisions to remain childless. For now though let’s focus on WHY you should have kids. Here goes!’

Kids Can Make You A Better Person

Don’t tell me you are just fine the way you are. I won’t believe you. You are NOT fine just the way you are. You are imperfect just like the rest of us and you have lessons to learn. Children can teach us many lessons if we allow it. I know this to be true because mine teach me something every day. Wonderful lessons such as: Play is important and necessary. Laughter is the best medicine. Growing up stinks, so stay young at heart. Love and time beat out money and toys. A cardboard box is one of the coolest things ever. If you can be outside or inside, pick outside. Perhaps children can’t teach everyone, a serial killer for example. For most of us though, kids can make you a better person, if you are willing to listen and learn.

To Hear Your Kids Say, “I Love You”

I have to tell you that is one of the best things you will ever hear. My second favorite phrase is, “You are the best mom ever”, which I know is clearly NOT true but I like to hear it anyway. It’s makes me feel special and who doesn’t want that? I do! More please! This simple phrase is only one way your kid will make your heart soar. Wait till they fall asleep on your lap, make you pancakes for lunch because it’s your special day, learn their ABC’s and sing them to you, tell you they want to live with you forever, or just look at you with those eyes and that smile, and make all the bad go away. This is the good stuff parenthood is made of. The moments you can’t miss. Being an Aunt or Nanny or whatever, is not the same. Not at all.

Life is Never Boring With Kids

Unless you are boring and you have a boring child. I have seen cases of this but I believe them to be rare. Kids are crazy and I love that! They say what they feel, they aren’t afraid of anything, they don’t give up, and they can act like nerds or nut jobs and no one cares! If you are one of those people who does care, you have a problem and you need to get over it. Kids are kids and this is awesome. Accept it. Of course, there is a time and place for everything. Part of being a child is learning and applying this, and keeping that uncontrollable giggle to yourself when you pass gas in a group of people, and it smells like rotten eggs. Rotten eggs are pretty gross but you can be sure that rotten eggs are not boring.

Dirt is never boring either as the above photo proves. Tristan is clearly having the time of his life playing in mommy’s flowerpot. Mommy wasn’t so thrilled about the cleanup but when I saw the huge smile he had on his face how could I be mad? Remember son, It’s the small things in life that bring the greatest joys, things like dirt and baby smiles :-) Signing off, Tina

Love this post. #1 is so true. Having kids also gives you the opportunity to see life from a different perspective, that of a parent. So many things opened in my mind because of that perspective. Also, #3 You have seen cases of this? Whahaha! Oh boy.
