Hi, we are planning to move to Mexico sometime this year with our 4 children. We are planning to sale our home in California and move to Michoacan, Mexico by Morelia. I am currently homeschooling now and plan to homeschool my 9 year old and 7 year old in Mexico. I just don’t know where to start and am very nervous! Can you give me advice on where to start? Xan I just buy my curriculum and teach them myself when we get there or do I have to submit paperwork or something out there? Please let me know if you have any advice, thank you so much!

Erica we are living in Mexico on tourist visas and we have residency in KY, USA. We let KY know that we were homeschooling and don’t have to do anything with the Mexico school system because technically we are only Mexican tourists. If you are going to have residency in Mexico then that might be a different thing… although I can say that Mexico’s school system is very, very lax compared to the US. They do not have the system in place to monitor all the children and their attendance :-(

Tina Marie Ernspiker

Photographer / Writer

Our family of six, (plus two cats and one dog), live abroad in Mexico. We homeschool, travel, and perform missionary work all while managing ADHD, (Mommy has it too), and a brain injury.

We live a life of adventures, big and small, and hopefully, our lives will relate and appeal to families around the world with similar obstacles and goals.

Our primary objective is to raise happy and responsible children who love our Creator while teaching them the whole world is their home.

Welcome to our life in Mexico, a lifestyle and photography blog, Tina :-)
